Why a porch
The Stoics taught on a porch, in the open.
The Stoics took their name from the Stoa Poikile, the painted porch in Athens where Zeno taught anyone who walked by. Their subject was ethos: character, and how to act well.
Ethoic takes both halves. We work in the open, and we hold the work to a standard. The mark is that porch, turned on its side into an E.
